I Am...
Jill Falk asked us all to pick three words to describe our brand. To describe ourselves. I picked Sincere, because when speaking about hard things like alcohol dependency, substance abuse, gender identity, depression, suicide, self-harm, pornography, and anything you need to be sincerely open about. You can’t be making things up. You have to be authentic, and I don’t want to be some guy who speaks to just be words out in the open. I sincerely hope that people can relate because otherwise I’m not being sincere. This is my goal to be relateable by sincerely sharing my story, by telling all the ugly bits. I’m not going to be afraid.
I hope to be encouraging. The world is always trying to find ways to keep us down. News media is out of control and producing fear-mongering content and bending the truth. My brand is to be encouraging. To share hope and the message of hope that has brought me out of my darkest days. I want to show people that the world doesn’t end because of a bad moment, because of a weak second. Life keeps going on because there is hope.
Prolific, a word that means to produce a lot of. I want to produce a lot of content. I want there to be so much out that people start to get it. I want people to feel better, I don’t want to see people hurting for no reason. Being prolific means being active. Being active means being productive. Being productive means being prolific. In this way I can share hope and my sincerity and encouragement can be used.
I hope to portray those three ideas in everything that I do. My passion is for storytelling, and I wish to be sincere in doing so. I have experienced many things in my life. Some of my paths have led to destruction, and others have brought me to a place where I feel at peace. I want to share the story of how I was saved from myself. Share the story of how I am constantly being reshaped by Christ. I want to be sincere in everything that I do.
I know that I can make a difference by sharing these stories, by speaking the truth. There is a lot to be garnered from the stories that we have lived through. I want to do this either through my Instagram and my #ArmedVerses, poetry, and pictures. I want to do this through videos as well as just talking. The great thing about life is that we don’t have to do it alone!
